Project Overview: Multi-Purpose Fields Project
The multi-purpose athletic field, baseball complex and softball fields serve the practice and game needs for various SRVHS sports programs on campus including all team levels for baseball, softball, lacrosse and for football practices, pre-game warm-ups and off-season training.
The current natural grass in the outfield area of the baseball complex as well as the entire multi-purpose athletic field is covered with potholes, uneven surfaces, dirt mounds and bare patches because of its excessive use, which makes playability and safety an on-going challenge. These issues are further complicated by current watering restrictions, on-going maintenance requirements and inclement weather conditions.
The replacement of grass with an all-weather turf field would be extremely beneficial to maximizing usage, player safety and field availability for all user groups. Further, the installation of neighbor-friendly lighting on the auxiliary field would allow for additional field usage hours after dark.
This list of improvements includes, but is not limited to, the following:
Multi-Purpose Athletic Fields:
- Replacement of the existing torn up and worn natural grass area on the Auxiliary Sports Field in favor of an all-season turf field to be used by the various athletic teams of the high school.
- Installation of neighbor-friendly lighting for the Auxiliary Sports Field.
- Replacement of the torn-up and worn outfield grass and dugout area grass on the varsity baseball field with an all-weather turf field to add for a safe and low maintenance surface for baseball games and user flexibility for other sports teams during the baseball off-season.
- Replacement of the aging bleachers and storage areas for the baseball facility.
- Construction of batting cage roofing system to allow for year-round use of batting cages for baseball and softball teams.
**Based on the approval of future bond and parcel tax measures which may include funds earmarked for certain facility improvements on the SRVHS campus, some of the projects listed may not require the full financial underwriting by the Foundation but may include some level of contribution to upgrade certain basic facility standards.
